Community-based Work > Transmissions: Quilts with Trans People

Transmissions is a genderqueer quilting project with two components. In the first, we make quilts for trans people as gifts, working with them and their care networks to make an affirming piece for them to take home. In the second, we teach gender-expansive young people how to make quilts for themselves. It exists in a lineage of quilt-making as a radical act of community care and coming together, particularly for women, genderqueer and marginalized people. Quilts as survival objects; quilting as knowledge transmission.
