There to Here: Immigration Narratives with Berkeley High School
This two-year project is a collaboration with the Arts and Humanities track within Berkeley High School.
Students work in small groups on an interdisciplinary project exploring immigration. Using embroidery, laser cutting, applique, fabric printing, dyeing, hand- and machine-sewing, they construct quilt panels profiling people who have immigrated to Berkeley. We then constructed these panels into a series of four quilts.
This project is made possible through the support of Kala Art Institute. Quilts are first displayed at Kala's Gallery space in Berkeley and will migrate to BHS library for permanent display.
